Forskerne kan allerede bruke DNA-teknologi til å finne ut om helsekostpreparater inneholder det de lover – og snart kan de finne ut om en fiolin er bygd med lovlig eller ulovlig ibenholt. Forskere ved Naturhistorisk museum skal nå utvikle enda mer avanserte metoder, og det er dårlig nytt for blant annet svindlere.

Researchers can already use DNA technology to find out if health and food supplements contain what they promise - and soon they will be able to find out if a violin is built with legal or illegal ebony wood. Researchers at the Natural History Museum will now develop even more advanced methods, and that is bad news for scammers.
