Martin Fritzsche

Since 2018, Martin Fritzsche leads the next-generation sequencing (NGS) team at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC), which provides comprehensive library preparation, sequencing, and primary analysis services. This includes viral, bacterial, protist, plant, and mammalian genomics approaches for internal and external projects.

Together with Caroline Howard (De Montfort University) he worked on benchmark development for metagenomic characterisation of Berberis and St John’s Wort products, and de novo transcriptome construction for Aloe.

Before joining NIBSC, he completed a D.Phil at the University of Oxford where he mapped transcriptional networks in blood vessel development within the group of Sarah De Val at the Ludwig Cancer Research Institute.
